Bridging the Gap Between Public and Private Clouds
Amanda Poon delivers session to a packed room at Cloud Computing Conference & Expo

Cloud Computing Expo on Ulitzer

"On the supply side, interviews with cloud-enabled providers reveal that there are a lot of activities already underway to support enterprises of all kinds," noted Agatha Poon, a senior analyst in Yankee Group's Anywhere Enterprise research group, speaking at the 4th International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.

In essence, stated Poon, Yankee Group defines cloud computing as "dynamically scalable, virtualized information services delivered on demand over the Intenet with multitenant capability, service-level agreements (SLAs) and usage-based pricing." According to Yankee, while cloud computing has yet to reach mainstream popularity in the corporate world, CTOs are strategically reviewing various deployment models with great interest.

Based on real-world case studies, Poon identified key operational imperatives including location, regulatory support, security, and interoperability that help shaping a scalable, global cloud infrastructure, and its timeline.
